arch headphone/speaker/line-out jack with spdif support no sound

Here is a list of my devices

[kami@Index ~]$ aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: HDMI [HDA Intel HDMI], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: HDMI [HDA Intel HDMI], device 7: HDMI 1 [HDMI 1]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: HDMI [HDA Intel HDMI], device 8: HDMI 2 [HDMI 2]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 0: ALC3229 Analog [ALC3229 Analog]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 1: ALC3229 Digital [ALC3229 Digital]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

That last one is my spdif output for the headphone jack (which has a label above it saying s/pdif) when i plug in a toslink.

here is a list of profiles:

[kami@Index ~]$ aplay -L

Discard all samples (playback) or generate zero samples (capture)

iec958:CARD=PCH,DEV=0
    HDA Intel PCH, ALC3229 Digital
    IEC958 (S/PDIF) Digital Audio Output

again the last one is iec958 which pretty mcuh says its s/pdif
but i noticed something weird.
In the first list it says my spdif is on dev 1 for card 1 (in this case PCH)
but the profile says its on dev 0 for card 1

I'm wondering if its supposed to do that or if thats a mistake.
Now when i try:

[kami@Index ~]$ speaker-test -D iec958

speaker-test 1.1.0

Playback device is iec958
Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 1 channels

[kami@Index ~]$ speaker-test -D iec958 -c 2

As you can see im getting errors which leads me to beleive that the profile is not correct.

Can someone help me as this makes using the profile worthless in pulseaudio and this error explains why i get no sound as well.

Also here is the output of pacmd list-cards

kami@Index ~]$ pacmd list-cards

Now this worked:

[kami@Index ~]$ speaker-test -D iec958:PCH,0 -c 2

speaker-test 1.1.0

Playback device is iec958:PCH,0
Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 2 channels
Using 16 octaves of pink noise
Rate set to 48000Hz (requested 48000Hz)
Buffer size range from 64 to 1048576
Period size range from 32 to 524288
Using max buffer size 1048576
Periods = 4
was set period_size = 262144
was set buffer_size = 1048576
 0 - Front Left
 1 - Front Right
^CTime per period = 9.189069

Audio played through my headset however i can't get pulseaudio to do the same thing.
