[Wine] Problems with Photoshop CS

Hi!

I've read on www.winehq.com that Photoshop CS runs now with wine. So I bought and installed it. Installation with wine 0.9.11 works lika a charm, but running it give's me some errors:

That's pretty anoying, because Photoshop is really expensive.
I've had a look at the wine app-db and google, but I can't find a solution. Does anybody of you got it running?

Regards,
Moritz

PS: I've downloaded the trial of crossoveroffice, but it did not work either!

Re: [Wine] Problems with Photoshop CS

Couldn't anybody test his arch with this and tell me whether it works or not?
I love arch, so I wouldn't switch to ubuntu, but I need Photoshop...

Re: [Wine] Problems with Photoshop CS

I couldn't get CS2 to run on Arch, only 7.0.

This signature just crossed the line.

Re: [Wine] Problems with Photoshop CS

Perhaps it is a non issue? Linux (and this includes Arch) does not yet support color management. I am not sure that I would waste my time in Photoshop working in a non color managed environment. For this very reason, I keep a a dual boot with Windows on my machine. I work day-to-day in Arch, but when I need to work with Photoshop, it is over to Bill-Gates-land. I am hoping that Linux gets color management soon!

Re: [Wine] Problems with Photoshop CS

I only need a calibrated monitor, and I did my best with monica. It's not perfect, but it's okay for all the things I need.
I've tried ubuntu some time ago and had PS8 running. I haven't had the time for long testing but it works.

Could you install it and post your errors?

Re: [Wine] Problems with Photoshop CS

Sorry Moritz, I won't try installing both Wine and Photoshop. I have never had much luck with Wine, and I am philosophically opposed to it anyway. I came to linux to get away from Windows. I don't want to drag Windows over onto my Linux. That just doesn't appeal.

This, coupled with the color management issue, calibrated monitor or not, would lead me to encourage you to establish a dual boot and keep some old copy of Windows around JUST for Photoshop. That is what I do, and by and large it works just fine. Now as soon as Adobe gets off their rear and gives us Linux native Photoshop, I will give Windows the final heave-ho.

In the meantime, I am considering getting one of the new Intel Macs, and dual booting OS-X and Arch. Still a dual boot, but no Windows!
