[SOLVED] HP LaserJet 1018

Hello,
I have troubles installing and using my HP LaserJet 1018 printer.

I have install hplip and hplip-plugins.

I have added my user to sys, lp and scanner groups and uncommented  the following two lines in /etc/cups/cups-files.conf

User daemon
Group lp

I have installed the printer using manual usb bus method. Everything is working fine till, I unplug the printer and reboot the computer. The usb bus has changed and the printer has stopped working. I remove the printer and try to install it again but it is not found.

After I reboot the computer, my keyboard and mouse are not working, After I unplug the printer, they will start working again, but the printer will not work.

Hi pavelh and welcome to the forums.

Can you be more specific than this please - for instance, do you mean you added the printer via the cups web interface at http://localhost:631 as a usb printer following the wiki guidelines at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/CUPS or did you use "hp-setup"?

You shouldn't normally need to change /etc/cups/cups-files.conf

Edit: just looked at http://www.openprinting.org/printer/HP/HP-LaserJet_1018 and it says "Recommended Driver: foo2zjs-z1" - you can find foo2zjs in the AUR at https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/foo2zjs/
