i had this problem a few months ago and just went back to using webmail, but would like to give sylpheed-claws a shot again.
one problem im having is that new emails are never bold for me. they are automatically marked as read. i havent touched many config things prior to this problem, but nothing i select allows new mails to be marked as new. i even have the box checked for "only mark messages as read when opened in a new window" and i just sent myself an email, and it just is somehow read and doesnt show up bold

This has been fixed in the latest version of sylpheed, I guess -claws has the same bug. It appears with the latest versions of glib2 and pango.

since its still a problem in claws, do you think its worth filing a bug report for? i would guess they would fix -claws since they got it in regular sylpheed, but who knows
