[Gnome] "double click" doesn't work, "open wi

I got a problem when I start a file with a double click.
If a click a mp3 of movie file I get a gnome windows saying :

Cannot open 01-tiga-good_as_gold-emf.mp3

The filename "01-tiga-good_as_gold-emf.mp3" indicates that this file is of type "mp3 document". The contents of the file indicate that the file is of type "MP3 audio". If you open this file, the file might present a security risk to your system.

Do not open the file unless you created the file yourself, or received the file from a trusted source. To open the file, rename the file to the correct extension for "MP3 audio", then open the file normally. Alternatively, use the Open With menu to choose a specific application for the file.

I got this with all my mp3 files. I can just open them with "open with" like it said. They are all just named *.mp3, so I don't know what's the problem. Does somebody know how I can fix this?

thx!

Try shortening the file name so it will appear as a MP3 audio file.

How do you mean? If I rename a file to test.mp3, I still get the same error. But the strange thing is that it regonizes as an audio file??

I just started using Gnome a little over a week ago and I had that same problem until about three days ago. Just to make sure, try running the following command on that mp3 and whatever other mp3s you have.

gnomevfs-info 01-tiga-good_as_gold-emf.mp3

Check the output for MIME type. If things were working correctly, you should be getting audio/mpeg. Since things are not working correctly, you should get something like audio/x-extension-mp3 or something like that. The way I got rid of the problem was that I had to delete some of my gnome related directories, log out of Gnome and log back in.

.gnome, .gnome2, .gnome2_private, .gconf, .gconfd, .nautilus

That got rid of my custom settings but it cleared up the problem with nautilus always bringing up the security warning.

I get this:

Name : 01-tiga-good_as_gold-emf.mp3
Type : Regular
MIME type : application/x-extension-mp3
Default app : totem-usercustom-2.desktop
...

I'll try backing up my gnome directories and start fresh.

edit:
It didn't work, did you do something else ?
