I run the linux-lqx kernel, and upgraded this evening from 3.18.1-1 to 4.4.5-2. After rebooting to the new kernel, my Logitech Wireless Touchpad can no longer move the mouse cursor nor make any gestures. The mouse buttons are still working fine, indicating that the device isn't going completely unrecognized. The only hint I've been able to see from my Xorg.log is that, prior to the upgrade, xorg was using relative axes for the touchpad, but that it seems to have switched to absolute axes.
I'm not sure what the next step is in debugging the issue, but would appreciate any help offered.
Edit: I forgot to mention that the problem persists when I try rebooting to Arch's 4.4.5-1 default kernel.

The answer was staring me in the face, I was just focusing on the symptom instead of the cause. ![]()

Originally, Linux detected my touchpad as a mouse, and I had configured it appropriately. Since that was multiple years ago, the implications weren't at the top of my mind, and I didn't have the synaptics driver installed. Once it finally clicked that newer kernels are correctly seeing the device as a touchpad, I installed xf86-input-synaptics, and normal functionality is restored.
