Hard system freeze on Bash completion in rsync/ssh

Hi, I wanted to rsync some files to my Raspberry Pi and hit TAB for remote path bash completion.
As a result, my system froze hard (not the Pi, but the source system where I was issueing the rsync command), no mouse movement, no numlock/capslock light reaction, no switching to VT, I actually had to sysreq-B to reBoot.
I'm fairly sure this happened before with ssh bash completion too, a couple of times even.
