Metro: Redux crashes

While I'm playing game, there are so many graphical issues (like animations) but the biggest issue is game is crashing in some points. (Like a save point after a mission) I'm not sure if it's distro's or steam's fail. Maybe I'm to blame to not being able to manage my system. I've tried it on manjaro with cataclyst, I don't use cataclyst on arch because installation process is so painful. Anyway, I've found a way to run Metro: Redux on steam without cataclyst.

MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=4.0 MESA_GLSL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=400 %command%

This code lets me run with mesa drivers.

What am I missing ?

EDİT: I didn't have this animation issue on manjaro (I've installed it with non-free drivers). When I reload my shotgun, some nonsense happens on the screen like a mix of reload, zoom animation and weapon change animation at the same time and when a monster is attacking me, it makes really hard to play because it makes really hard to see my surroundings.

Try turning off the steam in-game overlay. The overlay is known to cause a great deal of issues with a great many things. Will try combing the output for anything else relevant...

I've tried everything you said to me. I did a good research on the internet. No result. I guess this problem is about with developer and steam. There is no other game that gave me such issues. "Only" metro redux and last light is giving me these headaches hmm

We don't actually have a lot of info about the game *istelf* crashing. If you can, perhaps try running the game itself from a terminal and see what, if anything happens. Also note that catalyst is probably the only way to get the game working. I have had simillar experiences with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare under WINE in which case the only solution was indeed the proprietary driver. One final thing to note is that you can check the depencies using the ldd command. These almost always cause games to crash on Arch Linux, because a lot (technically all) of the game-related dependencies aren't installed by default. This is a good thing, but it just requires due dilligence on behalf of the user.

I hope you can find an apropriate solution soon!
