I just purchased Lenovo Yoga 700 with GeForce 940m. I enabled legacy boot support and booted from the installation USB. The GRUB menu showed up fine but when I hit enter, the system hangs at blank screen and all I had is a blinking cursor.
I tried kernel options `no splash`, `quiet splash`, `nomodeset` etc but no dice. I'm wondering if there's a way to see the boot message somehow... since right now I have no lead as to what's going on.
I have been using a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro for over 2 years with Archlinux with no problems...
EDIT: It's worth mentioning that I don't think it's an Arch specific issue... I tried Ubuntu, which also hangs at boot with a blinking cursor. I just want to know where can I go find more information on where in the boot process went wrong.
EDIT: With the latest Ubuntu, I'm able to boot to Unity even without any kernel parameters...

Tried adding `nomodeset nouveau.modeset=0 i915.modeset=0` to the kernel param... No dice...
