Hello everybody,
A month ago I installed arch again after several years on my work laptop. Everything was set up and working fine. I installed the nvidia (I have a gtx 970M) drivers with bumblebee and I used to launch xfce4 manually with startx. During the last wekeend I tried to install the driver compatible with vulkan, but I failled. I reinstalled the normal graphic drivers but since then I was not able to start xfce4.
Simply the graphic server stopped working.
I attempted various basic solutions:
1) deleted the xorg.conf file
2) having the nvidia drivers generate a conf file
3) using
Xorg :0 -configure
and then copying the file in the correct folder.
All the attempts where unsuccessfull. The various outcomes where:
1) failed to connect to x server message
2) complete freeze with error marked with (EE)
and currently it displays a message saying that startx is waiting for X to accept connections.
I have saved the log file. For readability I put it on pastebin http://pastebin.com/D1mU348M
Can you give me some hints on what went wrong?
thanks
magonick
[EDIT]
I installed back the nvidia drivers and I get this message and everything freezes:
[...version infos and kernel cmd line]
(==) Log file: "/home/anicastro/.local/share/xorg/Xorg.0.log", Time: ...
(==) Using config file :"/etc/X11/xorg.conf"
(==) Using config directory: "/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d"
(==) Using system config directory "/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d"
I had to copy by hand sorry if there are any mistakes
