CFQ is the default scheduler, I think.

Nope, it is in fact deadline:
% zgrep -i default_iosched /proc/config.gz
CONFIG_DEFAULT_IOSCHED="deadline"
% uname -r
4.1.20-1-lts

I run deadline scheduler with the standard kernel but I needed to write a udev rule to do so. I checked the dev mailing list archive from back in June/July 2014 and did a google search but didn't see any discussion about the change. I wonder what is the rationale for having the different scheduler in the LTS kernel.
