I'm currently running cinnamon 2.8.7 launched from lightdm.
When my screensaver kicks in and I unlock it my panel is gone.
In order to restore it I have to type the following from a terminal session (I can still launch my terminal cause I've also plank installed which still works):
cinnamon --replace &Looking at my .xsession-errors file in my home directory I notice the following (just after I've unlocked the screensaver) :
(cinnamon-screensaver:1283): Gdk-ERROR **: The program 'cinnamon-screensaver' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)'.
(Details: serial 8113 error_code 3 request_code 131 (XInputExtension) minor_code 40)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the GDK_SYNCHRONIZE environment
variable to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
cinnamon-session[897]: WARNING: t+8282,77878s: Detected that screensaver has left the busThanks in advance for any help.

Apparently a recent update solved the issue. Never knew what the real cause was ...

I noticed I upgraded to cinnamon 2.8.8 and apparently this is the only issue they fixed as I found on the softpedia site ...
"Remove code for interaction with the screensaver. It was always broken until 2.8.7, where I 'fixed' it, and has caused some reported regression where the panels will be hidden after returning from the screensaver," said Michael Webster, one of the Cinnamon developers.
