[Connection always times out] Realtek Wireless Adapter on Lenovo E455

Hi all,
I have attempted to solve this issue by following the wiki here. Although I lowered the rate and txpower as well as set RTS and fragmentation thresholds, the problem still persists. The following is the lspci -v output for my wireless adaptor.

04:00.0 Network controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8723BE PCIe Wireless Network Adapter
	Subsystem: Lenovo Device b736
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 40
	I/O ports at 1000 [size=256]
	Memory at f0800000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
	Capabilities: <access denied>
	Kernel driver in use: rtl8723be
	Kernel modules: rtl8723be

Is there a way to fix this?

Thank you very much!

What are you using to manage the connection? Please paste the systemctl status output and the output of `uname -a`?

Hi Jason,
I am using network manager and on the newest kernel. However, the problem still persists when I switched to netctl.

Here is the output:

uname -a

Linux amd-think 4.4.5-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Mar 10 07:38:19 CET 2016 x86_64 GNU/Linux

sudo systemctl status

Re: [Connection always times out] Realtek Wireless Adapter on Lenovo E455

You should not start wpa-supplicant as  a service when using NetworkManager.  NetworkManager will spawn a wpa-supplicant daemon when it needs it. The wpa-suplicant service spawns a wpa-supplicant daemon that conflicts with the one that NetworkManager tries to launch.

Hi,
Thank you very much! I just stopped & disabled the service. I will close this post if the problem stop reoccurring.

Hi,
I am sorry to be back again tongue. I have tried "sudo systemctl stop wpa_supplicant.service" but when I check the status with systemd again, the service is still running. If I try to remove wpa_supplicant, pacman tells me networkmanager actually depends on this service. What should I do to stop this service?

Thanks a lot!

Re: [Connection always times out] Realtek Wireless Adapter on Lenovo E455

The service might be started by NetworkManager.  I don't use NetworkManager, so I cannot check.  But, if it does, the systemctl status output will show the wpa_supplicant service as a branch of the tree under the NetworkManager service.
