fromg googling it might have something to do with messed up fonts. I can get firefox to work as root though! 0_o.

It appears some of my fonts aren't working correctly, but I have done fc-cache with no luck.

Re: Help!! Firefox or Java won't work!!

I had such random segfaults sometimes a while ago. Strange thing is that they went away when I rebooted.

Yeah I tried rebooting with no luck.

Edit; I did a hard reboot just now and I had no success.

Re: Help!! Firefox or Java won't work!!

I had some troubles with Pango. I can't remember the exact commands, but there is a pango tool somethinh like pango-modules and that produces something to stdout. I redirected to /etc/pango/pango.modules (again, I can't recall the specifics) and everything worked a treat.

Re: Help!! Firefox or Java won't work!!

Just an idea: Have you tried to use Firefox from Mozilla. I mean, download it and give it a try?
I have always done that, from my days in Slack, till this day and have to say that I NEVER have had a problem with Firefox, Java or plugins.

It may be a very biased opinion (since I have never had problems) but I think it may be worth to try.

arooaroo, that command had the same info as the pango.modules, ralvez it happens with java to so it has nothing to do with arch's firefox package.

Re: Help!! Firefox or Java won't work!!

msg43, I'm not disputing that, what I'm saying, I guess, is that I have pango and Java and with the download from Mozilla it works for me without problems.
But ... what do I know. It was just an idea.
