Hi,
I'm having the issue where when I first boot up I get a soft Hissing static noise coming from my speakers. A quick google recommended me to add "tsched=0" to the "load-module module-udev-detect" line in /etc/pulse/default.pa, this didn't help the issue.
The strange thing is if I open Pulse audio volume control (pavucontrol), the sound disappears until I reboot.
Does anyone know what could be causing this?
I'm not sure what outputs or logs I should include to help diagnose the issue, so if anyone wants anything specific just ask.

Is your gain set too high and possibly opening pavucontrol sets it to a sane setting?
As root,
alsamixer
alsactl store
In alsamixer set your gains to about 75% and then store it so it persists between boots.
alsamixer and alsactl are in the "alsa-utils" package. Pulseaudio builds on top of ALSA so configuring ALSA is a prerequisite for Pulseaudio working correctly.

Hi Headkase, thanks for the reply.
While adjusting the levels in alsamixer I noticed the the "front mic boost" level is the culprit. Opening pavucontrol changes the level from whatever it was at to around 53 which makes the noise quieter, changing it lower makes the static sound inaudible. Changing the setting in pavucontrol also affects how loud the static noise is.
It seems strange that the mic boost would be causing the issue, any idea what's going on?

The mic boost is too high. Set it to the right level and then store your settings. If that works then don't forget to mark your thread [Solved].

That fixed the issue. Thanks.
I'll mark the thread as solved now.
