Software to set SWF as background?
I use i3 with feh for background slideshow currently. Is there any software/method to do it with an SWF?

Xwinwrap was made for this sort of purpose. I normally pair it with MPlayer to show movies, but it works with other things including xscreensaver screensavers. You should be able to get it to use an SWF player.
I think I know enough to know I don't know enough.

Try auto-reencode which I wrote to do the conversion to a standard format is my advise.
