nautilus behavior
when copying files from a cd/dvd to a local drive, the original permissions change. So if a file is copied with write permission to the cd (it has still on the cd) but after copying from cd to a local drive the write permissons got removed 
any thoughts about it ?

What options are you passing to the command?
Something like 'cp -rpfd /~' should work.

oh I should have stated a bit clearer that it was copying in nautilus *well it was in my title at least*
