Journalctl "device appeared twice" errors

i have two samsung 830 ssd's.

here are the journalctl entries i receive:

systemd[1]: dev-disk-by\x2did-wwn\x2d0x5002538043584d30.device: Dev dev-disk-by\x2did-wwn\x2d0x5002538043584d30.device appeared twice with different sysfs paths /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f.2/ata2/host1/target1:0:0/1:0:0:0/block/sdb and /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f.2/ata1/host0/target0:0:0/0:0:0:0/block/sda

systemd[1]: dev-disk-by\x2did-wwn\x2d0x5002538043584d30\x2dpart1.device: Dev dev-disk-by\x2did-wwn\x2d0x5002538043584d30\x2dpart1.device appeared twice with different sysfs paths /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f.2/ata2/host1/target1:0:0/1:0:0:0/block/sdb/sdb1 and /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f.2/ata1/host0/target0:0:0/0:0:0:0/block/sda/sda1

I used gdisk to change some partition names so that there would be no duplicate names and that eliminated four other "appeared twice" errors, but these two remain.

gdisk shows that the ssd's have the exact same "Partition GUID codes."

would that be the cause of these journalctl messages?

Re: Journalctl "device appeared twice" errors

the github thread is closed and the last reply was:

Fixed by 071e0b8.

Sounds encouraging - does that mean the next update of systemd will fix my issue?

Did you read the thread?

The "fix" is to not add the messages to the journal, the underlying behaviour is unchanged.
