I can get my printer successfully installed and working, but not the scanner: HP LaserJet 200 color MFP M276nw.
My assumption is, the main problem lies in the plugin not being installed. When I either run hp-setup -i or hp-plugin -i or hp-doctor, each modes download and install the plugin successully (according to the output they give me).
But when I run hp-check I get:
HP_LaserJet_200_colorMFP_M276nw

Here an output of hp-doctor -> you can see that plugin is installed successfully according to the output

What are you actually using for scanning, sane perhaps? If so, what does scanimage -L tell you? Does it see your scanner? I had the same problem with an HP printer/scanner some time ago and after much reading found it was as simple as uncommenting hpaio at the end of /etc/sane.d/dll.conf. It's buried in the wiki's somewhere. I found it by uninstalling and reinstalling hplip and there was a comment from pacman about the hpaio stuff. edit: here it is: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/SA … er.2Ffaxes

I am using simple-scan. but also sane does not work. The scanner is recognized but cannot be used:
> scanimage -L
device `v4l:/dev/video0' is a Noname Laptop_Integrated_Webcam_2M virtual device
device `hpaio:/net/HP_LaserJet_200_colorMFP_M276nw?ip=192.168.178.12' is a Hewlett-Packard HP_LaserJet_200_colorMFP_M276nw all-in-one
scanimage -d hpaio:/net/HP_LaserJet_200_colorMFP_M276nw?ip=192.168.178.12
scanimage: open of device hpaio:/net/HP_LaserJet_200_colorMFP_M276nw?ip=192.168.178.12 failed: Error during device I/O
The configuration in /etc/sane.d/dll.conf is already setup accordingly:

Unfortunately the information on the page is outdated
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/SA … er.2Ffaxes
This article or section is out of date.Tango-view-refresh-red.png
Reason: hpoj is deprecated and ptal-init is not compatible with systemd. (Discuss in Talk:SANE/Scanner-specific problems#)

I'm using hplip-plugin (from the AUR), which seems to work here.
What is the output of
hp-plugin -i -g
and
SANE_DEBUG_DLL=128 hp-scan -g

Thanks.
hp-plugin -i -g
Gave me the indication that the permissions from /var/lib/hp were somehow wrong
hp-plugin[25962]: debug: Locking: /home/aedu/.hplip/hp-plugin.lock
hp-plugin[25962]: debug: Unable to open file /var/lib/hp/hplip.state for reading.
hp-plugin[25962]: debug: Unable to open file /var/lib/hp/hplip.state for reading.
So I've removed hplip-plugin and installed the one from AUR and corrected the permissions of the directory to 755
