[pulseaudio] main.c: Failed to find user 'pulse'.

So I am trying to start the pulseaudio daemon since it isn't being started at boot.
It appears that it doesn't work because it isn't finding the user pulse.
So I been trying to figure out how to create that user.
I havent found any luck finding anything specifically on that.
I have looked around in the ALSA Sound Wiki.
If anyone can point me to the right direction on how to create the user pulse so I can start the pulseaudio daemon process that would be great.

Re: [pulseaudio] main.c: Failed to find user 'pulse'.

This is a XY problem What do you WANT, what is the end goal? Running pulseaudio in system mode is highly discouraged, unless you have a very very good reason to you shouldn't be pursuing it. Quick look through that pulseaudio -v shows that it fails to load the echo-cancel module due to invalid arguments. Comb through your /etc/pulse/default.pa and/or ~/.config/pulse/default.pa and remove the load-module module-echo-cancel or fix its definition with the correct arguments although I don't think you want to use that on a HDMI only setup anyway, so removing it is likely more in line with what you want

Edit: Going through your earlier threads it looks like you have one of the currently problematic Dell laptops, so you have another problem which is actually what you want to fix (see why I posted that link?) Your onboard soundcard isn't detected on the 4.5 kernel (AFAIK it should be with the latest package since the configuration has been amended, so update your system if you haven't already and reboot and retry). If that didn't help you might want to try to use the LTS kernel for the time being.

Also don't use root as your standard user of operation... and in general knowing how to create a user is standard procedure (although misguided with the problem at hand) how did you install Arch? Post

uname -a
