I haven't noticed anything not functioning incorrectly on my system as of yet, but I just want to rid all bugs.

Thanks

EDIT: I simultaneously installed Calibre.

Re: [SOLVED] call to execv failed (Permission denied)

Please post the complete output/logs.  You've cut out all the context that would allow this to have any meaning.  What was package 1/4 for example?

Re: [SOLVED] call to execv failed (Permission denied)

https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/49109 wink

You just need to :

sudo chmod +x /usr/share/libalpm/scripts/gtk-update-icon-cache

And again :

pacman -S gtk3

np.

I just don't understand how the guy figured out it was this script that was the problem. It does not appear in pacman's logs...

He looked at the hook file. Then it's pretty obvious...

Re: [SOLVED] call to execv failed (Permission denied)

I have some minor nitpicks. ;-)

1) When I googled the error, I was sent to this ticket: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/49115

Which is marked as a dupe with no referenced ticket? It would be clearer if it listed the duped ticket ID somewhere.

2) The ticket that was worked on is:  https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/49109

The following entry "Additional comments about closing:  -3" was cryptic to me.

I suppose it's short form for "It's fixed in gtk3 3.20.3-3", but would've been nice if that was more explicit. I was trying to figure out what "-3" comments meant.

A good way to troubleshoot these in the future is shown below (ie since pacman.log is not helpful in this regard):

You could use grep for example.

Oh this is fantastic ! Thank you.

A wiki page about "good habits" for debugging stuff would be really great imho.

No amount of additional documentation will induce people to read or search the existing documentation.
