[SOLVED] DWM - Focus issue

Hi all,

I'm want to change the default behaviour when Dwm kill a client.

The problem

- Create 3 windows like this.
_______________
|          |     B     |
|   A     |_______|
|           |     C    |
|______|_______|

- Hover A, then stay on B. Then, close B.
- The focus is now on A, but the cursor is on C and I want to have the focus on C.

Comment

I've been tweaking around but I can't get the code that does this.
The patch proposed here (see this post) is helping a bit but does not work when applying the same technique to the killclient function.

Has anyone been able to fix this? Thanks!

How have you applied it to the killclient function.  Show the code you are using.

EDIT: actually if dwm is able to use the sendevent WMDelete atom then even this may not be sufficient.  You'd be better off putting the patch code into the unmanage function in place of the focus(NULL) as it is this line (1781) that is causing the behavior you want to change.

Alternatively, you could put the patch code into the focus function in place of the for loop on line 803 so that the "default" window to be focused on any call to focus(NULL) would be the window currently under the cursor.  I'd keep the for loop there as a fallback though:

I have to tweak it a bit  but the hovered client has the focus when changing tag or when killing a client.
(However, the fallback you proposed make it doesn't works)
