Hi. I have old laptop Fujitsu-Siemens V5515 with SiS videocard
> 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 771/671 PCIE VGA Display Adapter (rev 10)
Now i use Ubuntu 12.04 with xorg 1.7.6 and 3.2 kernel. I use this http://zatherz.cba.pl/sis/ manual to install video driver. Now, on Ubuntu, i have 1280x800 resoution. But if i install fresh Arch, i dont have nice resolution, it's = 1024x768 or 640x480. Can i install old xorg or downgrade he on Archlinux? Any people have expiriens with this videocard?
Sorry for my bad english.
Thanks.

Sounds like you did not install the xorg video driver for your card correctly and that you are falling back to the frame buffer mode.
Perhaps you should install xf86-video-sis from extra rather than attempting it from some site that is blocked by my firewall and does not interest me enough to start a proxy server

Anyway, https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extr … video-sis/ required xorg-server<1.16 but in repo https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extr … rg-server/ xorg is 1.18.3-1 What should i do?

That is a conflicts, not a depends.
They are kind of complete opposites -- you can install it as long as you don't have an old version of xorg-server currently installed.

Really?
From the PKGBUILD
conflicts=('xorg-server<1.16' .....

The standard SiS driver doesn't handle 671/771 GPUs. You need this: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/xf86-video-sisimedia
And just btw, the sisimedia driver is mentioned in the wiki on the SiS page. Instead of focusing on getting an older xorg-server, you should've focused on SiS. Good example of the XY problem
Edit: Heh, I checked the http://zatherz.cba.pl/sis/ page you mentioned... It contains this at the beginning, impossible to miss:
If you use Arch, then grab the package from AUR.
So, yeah...

I'm glad it is blocked

Why would I do that? This thread is fine.
