Why doesnt arch contain the new GCC and glibc

Hii, GCC 4.1 is out there for a very long time, and include many new optimize things like static vars and so on, why isnt it in the ARCH base any way?

AFAIK because when it's included, everything will have to be rebuilt with the new GCC - so the devs wanted to make a release before doing that.

+ glibc 2.4 work only under 2.6 kernel
