Hello,
I've came across a problem with RT3290 WiFi/Bluetooth card: after the latest update (4.5.1-1-ARCH), whenever I try to enable my WiFi card (ifconfig wlo1 up or simply "Enable" in NetworkManager), my dmesg log gets flooded by
BthIsr():-->HCI_RUNNING not set!
My system has been working flawlessly on this point for at least two years, so I suppose it is not a configuration error, but a driver broke by the recent updates…
If I try to connect to any network, dmesg | grep wlo1 returns
[ 15.684800] rt2800pci 0000:08:00.0 wlo1: renamed from wlan0

If I let my WiFi card on for too long, I end up having trouble to boot because of the massive journal size processed at startup.
The drivers in use are (lspci -k) :
08:00.0 Network controller: Ralink corp. RT3290 Wireless 802.11n 1T/1R PCIe
Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Ralink RT3290LE 802.11bgn 1x1 Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 Combo Adapter
Kernel driver in use: rt2800pci
Kernel modules: rt2800pci
08:00.1 Bluetooth: Ralink corp. RT3290 Bluetooth
Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Ralink RT3290LE 802.11bgn 1x1 Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 Combo Adapter
Kernel driver in use: rtbt
Kernel modules: rtbth
(bluetooth is related because the same hardware PCI card handles it, even if I don't use it - the driver is buggy).
Finally, I'm not sure whether this was a good idea or not, but when I noticed that two drivers were in use for the same card, I tried `rmmod rtbth`. If I then try to enable my WiFi card, the whole system ends up freezing -- even ctrl+alt+f1, which, iirc, is directly handled by the kernel.
Does anyone encounters the same problem?
Thank you.

I have the same board and install
sudo pacman -S dialog
sudo wifi-menu
sudo ip link set wlo1 up
sudo modprobe rt28000pci
post answer:
inxi -fz
reboot

(though I can't see how it would be related...)
rt2800pci is already loaded, and wifi-menu gives nothing different from networkmanager.
Thanks!

Well, I don't really understand what happened, but the problem seems to be fixed.
All I did was to remove the rtbth-dkms package (AUR) and reboot, so I suppose that this packet is somehow broken with the new kernel.
Thanks anyway!

same happen here... had to remove rtbth-dkms , but now i cannot use the bluetooth with latest kernel 4.5.
Do you guys have the bluetooth working?
I search if there is a new version of rtbth or driver for rt3290 to handle bluetooth, it seams that is a dead driver for linux.. the wifi part is not an issue since it is handle by the module rt2800pci...

All works fine on 4.9(not 5.x!) kernel with rt3290sta-dkms driver(from aur) and WICD!

You are replying to a 4 year old thread, this situation is likely to be completely different now than when this was relevant, please don't necrobump.
