Fingerprint using fprintd isn't an option in the GDM lock screen.

When logging in for the first time, GDM accepts a fingerprint instead of a password (showing something like "or scan finger" below the normal password field), and the scanner lights up to show that it is taking input.

However, the lock screen (If the screen turns off or if the machine is woken up from sleep) in GDM does not seem to take fingerprints as an alternative to entering a password, even though the scanner also lights up when GDM asks for a password when unlocking. Is there any way that I can enable using fprintd to take a fingerprint as an alternative to just entering my password?
I'm using a Thinkpad T510.
