Hi All,
I hope you are well.
My network controller is this one:
04:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Wireless 3160 (rev 83)
4.5.3.201605102138-1-grsec
lsmod | grep iwl
iwlmvm 218752 0
mac80211 489336 1 iwlmvm
iwlwifi 131973 1 iwlmvm
cfg80211 355838 3 iwlwifi,mac80211,iwlmvm
led_class 4450 3 hp_accel,iwlmvm,input_leds
As I can see from this document: http://www.intel.co.uk/content/dam/www/ … -brief.pdf
it is dual band and also has Bluetooth 4.0 embedded.
To be honest with you I have transferred a hard drive from one laptop to another (exactly the same model) and I believe since then I struggle to establish wifi connection.
I have discovered that the wireless adapter inside this laptop is different - the previous laptop has Atheros.
I have looked into this topic:
https://www.reddit.com/r/archlinux/comm … ith_intel/
first I could not find any iwlwifi.conf unless I have to touch it.
second the only connection I was able to establish from this NIC so far is Open not WPA2
Initially I was blaming NetworkManager, but it has nothing to do with it as Wicd is also struggling to authenticate.
I am not sure if the firmware issue of this adapter has been fixed according to the comment of the above topic.
If not I might better replacing it with something less fancy but at least working on Arch.
Please advise.
