ifuse iphone 4: "Failed to connect to lockdownd service on the device"

hello,

I'm trying to mount my iphone 4 under Arch linux, but I'm getting the error-message above:

"Failed to connect to lockdownd service on the device.
Try again. If it still fails try rebooting your device."

I already disabled the securitylock-code on my iphone restarted my iphone-4-device.

I have the following software in these versions installed:
usbmuxd: 1.1.1
libplist-git: 1:1.12.r26.g6ab7e30-1
libimobiledevice-git: 1:1.2.0.r23.g2a58684-1
ifuse: 1.1.3-3
gvfs-afc: 1.28.1-1

Also I am in the "usbmux"-group

http usbmux tux sudo

Does anyone know a solution for this problem/error?

Re: ifuse iphone 4: "Failed to connect to lockdownd service on the device"

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem with an jailbroken iPhone 6 (iOS 8.3) hmm

[c0d3@z3r0 ~]$ groups
kvm usbmux libvirt c0d3 sudo
[c0d3@z3r0 ~]$ usbmuxd
[c0d3@z3r0 ~]$ idevicepair validate
SUCCESS: Validated pairing with device 36978e81b6463d6a7d8ac0b87f8c3d58a25a2094
[c0d3@z3r0 ~]$ mkdir iphone
[c0d3@z3r0 ~]$ ifuse iphone
Failed to connect to lockdownd service on the device.
Try again. If it still fails try rebooting your device.
[c0d3@z3r0 ~]$

Re: ifuse iphone 4: "Failed to connect to lockdownd service on the device"

Yes, I followed the kPhone tethering wiki precisely and got the same "Failed to connect to lockdownd service on the device." as you two.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/IPhone_tethering

I then spent the next 4 hours googling and trying everything else I could find on the issue, trying both git and non-git version s of usbmux, ifuse, libplist, etc.  I also tried "removing old libplist libraries (which isn't really necessary because the AUR git versions take care of that for you).  There were some other suggestions people made in other forums, but nothing solved the lockdownd problem.

Anyway, I can see the device with

 ip link

and I can also get it to pair if I use

idevicepair

.  But that doesn't change the fact that I can't mount it with

ifuse /path/to/mountpoint

because it responds with the "lockdownd" failure.

To be safe, I had the iPhone without any security (pin or otherwise) set up and I rebooted it multiple times (for each new thing I tried).

I also used the ...network and ...rules files precisely as indicated in the archlinux wiki (except for replacing the enp0226u... with my own device shown in ip link.

If there is someone out there who might be willing to work with us to solve this, please let me know what data will help and I'll gather it all.

I'm trying with an iPhone5s, so I suppose we can say the issue is the same on iPhone 4, 5, and 6.

Note:  In addition to trying to use other posts on this forum to solve the problem (unsuccessfully), I have also tried to follow the solutions here (but without success):
https://github.com/libimobiledevice/lib … issues/243
https://github.com/libimobiledevice/ifuse/issues/15

I can confirm for iPhone 4. I got this phone Q1/2016 and mounting stopped working around april.
