docker-compose not connecting to ports
I have encountered a situation where running 'docker-compose up' runs into problems ('Connection refused') connecting to ports, whereas carrying out exactly the same chain of commands with docker build and docker run directly has no issues. I cannot post the file as it part of a non-public codebase. Others are able to run 'docker-compose up' on the same file on Ubuntu and a Mac without problems.
I am running docker and docker-compose more or less straight out of the box. I have tried a number of things (iptables, etc) to persuade docker-compose to see the ports, but have not succeeded. It seems that docker-compose is somehow handling ports in a different way from docker itself.
Has anybody else experienced this issue?

Thanks very much for the offer! In the end things were cleared up: it turned out that docker-compose was actually behaving in the expected way; the messages about not connecting to ports were expected.
