Have been using this distro since 2011,
[brovo ALL for expandable distro]
Three days ago,did system update (Syu) before
installing VLC (Sy vlc. Wasted half the day trying
to get vlc to play ATSC-close-captioned video files
recorded with mencoder via PCIE Hauppuge card.
Normally i set recording via "AT" or Systemd timers,
after a recording time, turned on the display to remove
the old video file, screen showed kernel CRASH.
Next day, inspected the hardware, could boot Win10 and archlinux.
Tried mencoder cmd via bash without the TV-in plugin.
Then tryied same command with TV-in cable into PCIE card,
Got the Kernel CRASH.
Did a search on arch forums and lookd at Multimedia for 2 months.
Googled this link on v4l kernel crash problem patch:

Maybe fixed by 4.7 ?

Examples of information that are irrelvant/unclear:

This can be interpreted as rude and only serves to express how unhappy you are, wich is irrelevant to the problem.
"Tried mencoder cmd... Then tryied same command"
What command did you use?
"Got the Kernel CRASH"
Please provide the log output.

This is not relvant to the problem you are trying to solve. Please open a seperate thread/report a bug.

It is advised to follow the How to post guide when posting on the Arch forum. If one consciously jumps over these elementary steps like reading the wiki and providing necessary information about the problem, one can be regarded as a Help Vampire.

[Solved] Upgraded this sytem with Syu getting kernel 4.6.1-2. Rebooted and did a good ATSC recording.
