[NVIDIA, i3] Flickering moving/resizing windows, switching workspaces

Flickering with i3 4.11, Nvidia 965M

I always experience flickering when I do any of the following:
- Resize a window
- Move a window
- Switch workspaces
- Send a window to another workspace
- Restart i3 (I kind of expect this one is normal)

The flickering can be seen in any window in the current workspace. In terminals, white blocks flash. In applications, blocks of nearby pieces of the window flash, i.e. in Firefox I might see bits of the Google search bar flashing near the right side of the window.

I am running i3 version 4.11 and my video card is the Nvidia GeForce GTX 965M.

The first part of the video is showing the flickering when I resize a window. The second part (with the larger flickering) is when I switch workspaces.

When did this start happening? Were changes made to the machine that may have precipitated the problem? Have the display settings been reviewed- clock, phase, refresh rate, resolution, etc.? Are you using a compositor such as Compiz or Metacity? When was the last time you ran an update? Are all the driver depends satisfied? Which systemd and kernel versions are installed?
