Module for TV Stick Not Built in Linux 4.6

I have a TV stick that supports different modes of operation (DVB-T/DVB-T2).

Up until linux 4.5 two modules were loaded,

rtl2832

and

mn88473

In 4.6 the latter one isn't loaded automatically and can't be loaded manually, since the file doesn't exist.

I looked at the sources, the driver was moved from staging to

drivers/media/dvb-frontends

.
I tried building the module following this guide, which produced *.ko files for many of the other DVB frontends, but not the one I need.

Is this a matter of the kernel config or is it a bug upstream?
And if it is how would I go about filing the bug?
