kde plasma :window tabbing: Automatic group similar windows dont work

In KDE plasma

systemsettings > window management > window behavior > advanced > window tabbing

I selected both below options

automatic group similar windows  
switch to automatically grouped windows.

But the tabbing is not happening.

if i open two xterm. the both open seperately untabbed. I want them to be tabbed in one group

It was working with earlier kde. but in plasma its not working

i updated my system just yesterday. Previous i was using kde (not plasma)

I want to revert back to kde from plasma.

How to do it.

Use a distro that still provides it
