Certain programs show big fonts after switching graphics driver

Problem occured when going from xf86-video-nouveau to nvidia-340xx. Previously when I switched graphics card, and went from nvidia to nvidia-340xx, the same problem occured.

I took a screenshot of firefox and xfce4-panel before and after the problem occured:

This is how it used to look. Notice how on the top, the name of the windows and the names of the tabs in firefox are the same.

This is how it looks now. Now, without any change to the fonts, only changing the driver, the font on the window titles is much larger than before, but in firefox, the fonts remained the same.

Certain programs like firefox and visual-studio-code don't exhibit any bad behaviour, but others such as netbeans, lxterminal, and xfce4-panel have big fonts.

I set my font through lxappearance, and as far as I can remember, I haven't used any other programs/config files to edit anything about fonts or my display. My font is DejaVu Sans Book 10.

Using various wiki pages as my guide, I ran these commands to make sure my settings are correct. Unfortunately, I only have the "after" results:

$ lspci | grep VGA
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation G84GLM [Quadro FX 570M] (rev a1)
$ xdpyinfo | grep -B2 resolution
screen #0:
  dimensions:    1680x1050 pixels (331x210 millimeters)
  resolution:    129x127 dots per inch

My best guess is that the font size varies based on what GUI toolkit the program uses.

Have a look at : http://askubuntu.com/a/272172

I think the dpi you see with xdpyinfo is the problem as the default can change with the driver. If you have not a HIDPI monitor, I would suggest you to force 96x96 dpi even if it is not exactly the dpi of your monitor. By the way the "129x127 dots per inch". You most certainly have pixel with the same height and width.

Very odd, I'm certain that's what it reported before, but now it says 127x127. Also, I calculate it, and it should be 128.9x128.8 (probably 129x129).
