I am using Linux for the first time. I decided to use Arch and with the help of the wiki was able to install. I am currentlu having problems with gdm. I was able to follow the wiki and edit .xinitrc and have start x going. I am using gnome, the only issue I am not able to run gdm. Please see the outputs below.
linux 4.6.2-1
linux-headers 4.6.2-1
here is the output of systemctl
sudo systemctl enable -f gdm.service
Removed /etc/systemd/system/display-manager.service.
Created symlink /etc/systemd/system/display-manager.service → /usr/lib/systemd/system/gdm.service.

Enabling a service means that it will (if the conditions are met) be started next time you boot. You are probably looking to "start" the service without rebooting.

Please read this, particularly the section regarding bumping.
I don't use gdm, so I can't offer specific advice on this particular problem, but you can still search for information about those error messages and see if other people have experienced them. The LogDir error seems particularly strange since that directory is part of the gdm package, so it shouldn't need to be created, that could suggest that the gdm package is in an inconsistent state, so check it with pacman's --check flag (see 'man pacman'). The pam_gnome_keyring.so file belongs to gnome-keyring, so check that package's consistency too.
