[solved by removing xf86-video-intel] mpv causes X (?) to misbehave

This started happening after recent upgrade which included mpv. I'm not entirely sure mpv is the root cause, but it sure looks that way - tell me what you think.

Right after I log in X/Openbox, everything works okay. When I start playing some video with mpv, some GUI apps start to refresh screen only on mouse movement. For example, playing youtube video in Firefox displays only 1 frame, but if I move the cursor continuously video plays (not too smoothly); if I type several letters into terminal (roxterm, lilyterm) it remains empty, but when I move the cursor typed letters appear (same in Firefox text areas) and so on. Some apps however are immune to this - geany, xterm and mpv itself. This behaviour continues even after exiting mpv, until reboot. I haven't been able to get this behaviour without running mpv.

Libinput's failure to create /dev/input/mouse0 is suspicious - I can't find any info on the web about that. The file does exist though.
mpv developers said it's not their problem https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/issues/3248.
Configs/logs are below. There are 2 other X config files - for keyboard layout switching and disabling mouse acceleration, I can post them if needed.

Does anyone else experience this? Any ideas on where to dig?

Here's a line in mpv logs that appears on every cursor movement (moving mouse slowly for about 5 cm on the screen makes for several dozens of lines in the log:
