I just noticed that icons are not displayed any more in toolbars of KDE applications (e.g. KTorrent). I used to have this issue when launching them using "sudo", but now it happens always (running them from OpenBox menu or terminal).
It may be unrelated...but I get also a few "permission denied" errors when KTorrent starts. It looks like KDE apps are launched with strange permissions.
I can't say if this happens after recent updates, since I rarely use KDE applications.
Any ideas on what could cause this issue?
SOLVED: I still don't know what caused the issue, but I solved it using 'qt5ct' to re-set the Icon theme to use. So the problem was related to Qt and simply changing the Icon theme using KDE settings panel was not useful.
