strongswan not showing up as VPN plugin in nm-applet

I installed strongswan 5.4.0-2 off of the AUR.

If I click on nm-applet->VPN Connections->Add a VPN Connection... I get a popup saying there are no VPN plugins installed.

I've tried enabling the strongswan service and rebooting, but I can't seem to get it to work.

I'm guessing you need to install the networkmanager-strongswan package as well smile

No, it didn't "fix" anything. It just shifted the brokeness one space to the right. - jasonwryan

Dang.  I didn't have it installed, but that didn't seem to make it work.

Re: strongswan not showing up as VPN plugin in nm-applet

I saw on the AUR for networkmanager-strongswan in the comments that:

I have provided a separate strongswan-networkmanager package as the strongswan maintainer does not wish to add --enable-nm.

So I wondered if because I installed strongswan first, it didn't have this enabled.  So I tried rebuilding it.  makepkg said that it was already built, so I deleted the directory and built it again with --enable-nm.

Still doesn't work.

It works with the AUR networkmanager-strongswan. But it needs little adaption of the PKGBUILD. I can guide you.
Are you using yaourt or plain makepkg?
