Laptop heats up, all the measures mentioned on archwiki are old

Following are the things i already tried:

pm-utils = out of date
thermald = no support for haswell
Laptop Mode Tools = installed but no affect

I am running a Intel i7 Haswell with Nvidia GTX.
Can anyone please suggest a alternative,

Does your laptop has an AMD processor?
It could be related to the sp5100_tco watchdog module that is still buggy.
Try blacklisting this module.

No, I don't think that would work for you.
Sorry but I've no experience with NVIDIA nor Intel.
Try switching the free / proprietary driver to see if there's any change.
Look for processes eating much CPU.
Also check HDPARM's wiki site to see some power saving configurations for your hard disk. Same for Intel, but I think nowadays there's no much to tweak in the processor to get power-saving modes.

Also relevant: Is it by any chance a Dell Laptop? Those need a different fan contol package.

Your laptop is probably optimus enabled that is a turndown when it comes to heat (trust me i have one as well) , I would recommend setting up bumblebee correctly using primus as a bridge (don't forget to download bbswitch and add your self to bumblebee group!).

Another thing is that no matter what you did - (for me i tried to set my cpu to run at a lower frequency, disable internal camera, made my usb 3.0 work as 2.0 , optimized my hard for battery life instead of performance , did all possible measurements to reduce heat and battery usage... and I wasn't able to bring the temperature down by 1C..) - you won't be able to further reduce the temperature .

For an optimus enabled laptop idling at 45-50C and gaming at 70-80 is a perfect thing in linux.

Keep in mind that we are currently in summer (despite what hemisphere you're currently living in) and thus the temperatures of such devices wont get lower than that (in my country the temperature is approx 35-40 in the summer)

The thing is i am from india and its monsoon here. Still the i am at 40-45c idiling.

Isn't that also the room ambient temperature? 

In all seriousness, what are the room ambient temperature and RH?
