Okular as default application to open PDF broken

Hi everyone,
I switched from KDE to a window-manager (i3), and I found an issue regarding the mime-standard:
Okular is the target I want for opening PDFs, but in the mime database, it lists it to be opened with:
  kde4-okularApplication_pdf.desktop
This .desktop file doesn't exist anywhere, so, it doesn't work and PDFs are open (in my case) with GIMP instead (on KDE/dolphin it actually opens with okular because it uses kde-open so it's outside our problem scope).

I believe this was working before because on another topic someone fixed his own association by adding that line

Can someone confirm if this is a packaging problem?

It's not a packaging problem, it's a problem based on the fact, that MIME handling in Linux has spawned more offspring than the Kelly Family, because every time somebody notices how much it doesn't work across environments, somebody writes a new handler instead of fixing the common convoluted mess. Read https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/De … plications.

I read that topic, indeed it's a mess.
However, for the question placed, why the mime database lists pdf being opened with kde4-okularApplication_pdf.desktop, and this file isn't anywhere? (and it should)

Somewhere, this must be an error.

There's no error. That's a desktop file ID, that refers to the /usr/share/applications/kde4/okularApplication_pdf.desktop file. See https://specifications.freedesktop.org/ … t/ape.html
