Problem to power off heated laptop since I enabled Wake-on-LAN

On my laptop the only option available enabled by default is g, and I connected it to a second computer directly via a cable.

    # ethtool net0 | grep Wake-on
    Supports Wake-on: g
    Wake-on: g

The only modification I did is:  nmcli c modify "wired1" 802-3-ethernet.wake-on-lan magic

Since I enabled wake on lan, I can go through the cycle of powering on / powering off only a couple of times, it doesnt matter that I turn it on using the wol command or that I press the power, after I power it off the third time:

- the fans keep spinning, which means the system is not turned off completely
- the wol command wont work again,
- if I press the power button the effect is to turn it off completely not to start it again;
the consequence of pressing the power off button is that my second computer tells me that the network is down (or Cable unplugged, though not true)

Do you think there must be something wrong in the setup ?
I'll do a test and restore to default wake on lan on my network card to see whats the difference:
with default/disabled settings I can turn the laptop off as many times as I want.

I forgot to say I followed the instructions at:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wake-on-LAN
