Hello all,
I have "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/51.0.2704.84 Safari/537.36" as my useragent for luakit browser. All sites work perfect except web.whatsapp.com. Somehow this site detects that I am not on Chrome/Firefox and tells me to use them instead. Is there a workaround for this issue?
Thanks in advance!

File a complaint with your service provider and tell them it's unacceptable.

Service provider doesn't have anything to do withit. It's a luakit configuration problem.

Whatsapp blocking your browser has nothing to with Whatsapp? Now that is interesting.

No, it doesn't. It just detects that I am not using Firefox/Chrome - the target browsers and won't let me use web version of whatsapp.. So either I have to set another useragent (i have no idea which one) for my browser or there has to be another some other way to avoid this problem. This is what I'am asking. To help me with configuration of luakit browser..
This is what I am talking about: https://s31.postimg.org/5x8hd0mij/5_036.png

Okay. I just wanted to raise some awareness about not bending over for internet giants lording over the web like a bunch of drunk hecklers.
To a more technical side: Your useragent looks fine. Are you sure the useragent is actually transmitted? Test it with http://chrispederick.com/work/user-agen … ures/test/
EDIT: I still think you should take the time and file a complaint. Nothing is going to change, if we don't make a stink.

Hi; I'm the current maintainer/author of luakit. Sorry for the necrobump, but since luakit has been fully resurrected, I thought I'd chime in on this.
Whatsapp won't work with luakit, because the JavaScript crypto APIs aren't implemented for WebKitGTK yet. This isn't a user-agent issue; the functionality that whatsapp needs is just not there.
The bug tracking this feature is here: https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=133122
When it's released, whatsapp should work fine.

Thanks fsckd!
With the release of webkit2gtk 2.18, the relevant APIs are merged, and whatsapp web is working
