looks correct here. firefox, using bitstream vera sans font. there's a setting to force all documents to use the font of your choice.

i tried increasing and decreasing the font size in firefox. the accent always remained above the u.

It doesn't fix OpenOffice I guess, since that one uses a static linked freetype2 binary with bytecode hinting enabled neutral

This bug is back now the bytecode interpreter in Freetype has been enabled correctly again.

You could enable the autohinter using fontconfig, it will fix your accents in most applications, fonts will look just like they did with freetype2 2.2.1-1 then. The only thing that's different is OpenOffice in this case, since our openoffice packages don't seem to use fontconfig.

I hope to get OpenOffice compiled from source some day, then it should be able to use system-wide fontconfig settings... *sigh*
