i have also added a udev rule as explained in here:
https://developer.android.com/studio/ru … setting-up
it is detected on my other windows machine, so i dont think that anything is wrong with the phone.
the phone is being charged, so the cable should also be ok.
is there another way to check for the device ?
thank you

Any chance your phone USB configuration is charge only? Though that does not explain Windows.

just double checked that, but it is still in MTP Mode and nothing is happening

[TLDR: TRY ANOTHER CABLE]
i was just about to reset my phone when i decided to try another usb cable (because who knows, right?)... (mfw ->wtf) and it worked!!
apparently there are some cheap ones that don't establish a proper conection for mtp and just charge the device without the pc recognizing it, my windows machine was using another one (the good one), but because the "bad" cable was charging i thought it was just fine...
so if anyone runs into this problem just make sure you are using the original (or a "good") cable.

*Headdesk* I assumed you had been using the same cable
Glad it is solved.
