"Boot existing OS" Error

Hi,

I am using GPT bootloader(SYSlinux, version 6.03 2014-10-06). The CPU Model is AMD Athlon(tm) II Dual-Core M3, 2 core, 2 thread, 512K L2 Cache, 64bit, SMP, H. It's GRUB.

My process of installation goes as follows:

1. Downloaded the ISO and loaded it onto a USB
2. Plugged it into my Gateway notebook, and started the Arch Linux Boot(i686)
3. I set it up using this YouTube video: https://youtu.be/6C_hwvU98xQ

I followed all directions, and finished the installation of Arch. When I go to the Arch menu, I am presented with the following choices:

Boot Arch Linux (x86_64)
Boot Arch Linux (i686)
Boost existing OS
Run Memtest86+ (RAM test)
Hardware Information (HDT)
Reboot
Power Off

When I select Boot existing OS, this appears:

Booting...
SYSLINUX 6.03 EDD 2014-10-06 Copyright (C) 1994-2014 H. Peter Anvin et al

This screen pops up for less than a second, then I am presented with the menu I was just showed. I googled, binged yahoo'd and checked the Beginner's Guide, no luck.

When hovering over the "Boot existing OS" option, I can press the "TAB" key  to edit the disk and partition number to boot. Clicking TAB brings up this:

.com32 boot/syslinux/chain.c32 hd0 0

I am allowed to edit it and change anything I need to. I have edited it multiple times, with varied results, none of them ending with me actually using the OS.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Ignacio Cabero

Re: "Boot existing OS" Error

Don't use random youtube videos; they are always outdated, wrong or most likely both. They are also unsupported.

Use the Beginners' Guide or the official Installation Guide.

Re: "Boot existing OS" Error

As @jasonwryan said, please reinstall using the Beginner's Guide. You installed a 32 bit OS even though you have a 64 bit CPU, and you seem to be booting off the installer USB instead of the hard drive containing the new installation.
