Official Docker image

There is an official version of Docker image of Ubuntu, Debian, Alpine, CentOS... why not of Arch Linux? Arch is relatively small and is cool to install dev tools and often has up to date packages. It could be a pretty good base image for some stuff. One not too bad existing image seems to be https://hub.docker.com/r/base/archlinux/ .

For info, to make an official image you make a pull request on GitHub for example the official Alpine Linux is at https://github.com/gliderlabs/docker-alpine and they are at https://github.com/docker-library/offic … er/library

Re: Official Docker image

You should start by explaining why there should be one.

Because people want to use Arch Linux docker images?

Because somethimes one is an environment that not allow other OS except the one installed do so the only way to test your app againt arch/lastest utils versions or/and use arch is throw a docker or a VM, or for fun or because as an official image you could have the community suport instead of "bailing to your oun self"

Well, I suppose that this is somekind of signature, no?

Why would something official be required? Is base/archlinux bad? Is mkimage-arch broken? Why not fix that first and then approach the Arch devs on the appropriate channel, the mailing lists? I see no benefit in an official docker image, as long as the existing solition works.
