So, seeing that I had everything working fine on my arch+xfce system, I decided to try a new DE and settled on plasma. Didn't like it very much and removed it but am now stuck with a problem in my xfce session too.
All the fonts are changed and the menus have changed to white text on white background. I tried all options in the settings manager with no result.
I am using the xfce-dusk theme.
Here's some photos:
White text on white background. Seen only when hovering cursor above it.(Application menu on the top left)

You can also see that the font on the panel is cut.
Never tryin' another DE again. (Relative Newbie)
EDIT: OK, solved after some tweaking. Reinstalled the plasma desktop and reconfigured the GTK appearance settings. Herein lay the problem, Had to restore everything to default.

Can you tell me what exactly you did to solve this? I'm having the same issue. This is what my screen looks like with xfce-theme-greybird

The bottom bar is wrong, the font on the desktop is also wrong
Update:
Okay, so I installed lxappearance, played with it a bit and everything back to normal
