Unable to properly shut down

doing

# systemctl -f poweroff
# shutdown -h now
# reboot

All seem ineffective when trying to make my computer power off in some way.
It's a laptop with hybrid graphics if it helps anything.
Mode: HP-DM4-1209la
CPU: Intel 460M
GPUs: GMAHD/6370M
