[Xfce4 + epdfview] Cannot select text in epdfview

When I open a pdf file with epdfview and try to select some text, it presents a strange behaviour. The selected text gets covered by a silver line and is not readable any more. When I leave the mouse left button the selected text deselects and there is no option to copy it.
