xorg7 upgrade problem

all,

Just did a pacman -Syu. After that I am having problem with xorg7.
I did pacman -Rd xorg7 to get around the bitstream font problem
and pacman -Rd nvidia for the libdri conflicts. After that I did
pacman -Syu, which picks up 3xxMB of data: I havn't done upgrade
for a long time. Did 'lilo' and reboot. Everything went fine so
far. Then I did 'pacman -S xorg'. But X won't start for me. It
complaines about missing modules like bitmap and pcidata. I followed
instruction on wiki to change the path and it didn't help either.
In fact, there is no /usr/lib/Xorg/modules in my system!

Am I missing something?

Thanks for any input!

Re: xorg7 upgrade problem

Make sure you use /usr/lib/xorg/modules in your xorg.conf (no uppercase x).

Otherwise you could try (re)installing xorg-server. The modules are in that package.

Re: xorg7 upgrade problem

It was late when I tried to upgrade. I had X11 instead of xorg in the conf file. Now x starts but I am having other problems..... Reading wiki.

Re: xorg7 upgrade problem

Now all gtk2 apps crash, complaining about "bad font" or something. Weird enough, xfwm4 comes up......

Re: xorg7 upgrade problem

you have to check on your paths in /etc/X11/xorg.conf

check this topic for more info
